NO, MAKE GUYS WORK.
Women are allowed to vote and work in the professional world alongside men, and aren't stereotyped as homemakers anymore.
Women have been given power where power is due, and that's fantastic. However, there's a fine line
between political equality among genders and gender equality in personal and social situations. And that line is crossed when girls ask guys out.
There are a number of reasons why guys should do the asking.
First, if girls put in more effort than the guy -- including taking the risk of asking a guy out -- guys may get lazy.Ladies, you don't want to be the only contributor in the relationship. Make him take the effort to ask you for a date.
It's important to remember that chivalry is not dead. Deep down, many girls want someone to sweep her off her feet (or at least hold the door for her on the way into math class.)Many girls fantasize about riding into the sunset with Prince Charming, and according to the story in my head, the guy is the one initiating most of the moves. Romance and passion are essential to relationships, and personally I don't thinkit's romantic to ask a guy out.
I'm not suggesting that women are inferior or clueless and need to be guided by men. But when a guy makes the first move, you know that he likes you enough to muster up the courage to ask for a date.
So if you're a sucker for romance, here's a tip: Give hints and flirt, but let the guy do the asking.
YES, BREAK TRADITION
The only way to get what you want is to ask for it. This principle applies just as much todating as it does to any other aspect of life. If you like someone, you should ask them out whether you are a guy or a girl.
In our society, there's always been a tradition when it comes to dating: The guy usually asks the girl out and she either accepts or gives aprepared speech about why she can't go on a date with him.
However, this traditional courting procedure doesn't work in today's dating scene. What about the empowered woman? Feminists didn't work hard for equal rights all those years ago only to have their efforts go unrealized by young women today.
If women are equal to men, they should take this same go-get-'em approach to their love lives.
Apart from the equal opportunities standpoint, girls should ask guys out to save themselves the stress of sitting around waiting for him to make the first move. Let's face it -- guys don't always get subtlety.Instead of trying to act coy and witty, more girls should take the plunge and be blatant about their feelings.
What's the worst that could happen? He says no and you both move on. Most likely, the guy will be flattered by the girl's honesty and be even more attracted to her.
Asking someone outis a risk no matter what. It's important to remember that guys are probably just as nervous as any girl when it comes toasking someone for a date. Most people want to know if their feelings for someone are reciprocated, but the only way you'll ever find out is to ask.
